La sesgada negativa del Colegio de Profesores de retomar clases presenciales

Un 2020 perdido en términos de aprendizaje, esa es la expresión más común en este último tiempo de familias, padres y madres de niños y niñas que asisten al sistema de educación escolar, ya sea educación básica o media. Es un sentimiento generalizado a causa de la pandemia, no obstante, se rescata que a nivel social los menores hayan tenido un buen proceso de adaptación y aumentaran los tiempos para compartir más en familia.
A pesar de lo anterior, se visualizan como dificultades significativas en el desempeño y vida emocional de los chicos la falta de estimulación permanente a nivel escolar y de interacción con sus pares, profesores y amistades, que se ha ido perdiendo producto del confinamiento y la falta de interacción social, la que no es posible en jardines, parques, cumpleaños, ni menos en el espacio escolar, que era uno de los lugares más seguros que tenían los estudiantes en nuestro país.
Lo anterior, a propósito de la discusión y debate entre el Ministerio de Educación y el Colegio de Profesores por la negativa de los docentes de retomar las clases presenciales, ya que mientras el Mineduc busca imponer que la vuelta a clases sea prioritaria desde el primero de marzo en adelante, los profesores por su parte exigen que se haya vacunado a toda la comunidad escolar antes de pensar en volver al modelo presencial. No hay un punto de encuentro.
En este escenario, la pregunta que surge es dónde quedan las familias en medio de esta discusión que más parece una pugna política entre dos entidades por ganar un “gallito” de poder, pero que finalmente no se percatan del significativo costo que genera en las familia y, tanto más, en los estudiantes, ya que se debe pensar el impacto que tendría un 2021 nuevamente con los niños alejados del sistema escolar y los múltiples beneficios que tiene la escuela como institución educativa, reguladora y como institución protectora de la infancia en la vida de cada uno de los niños.
En ocasiones los establecimientos educacionales tienden a ser un espacio de seguridad, de protección y de cuidado mental ante escenarios adversos que muchos jóvenes, niños, niñas y adolescentes tienen que vivir día a día, donde deben enfrentar situaciones precarias, de vulneración de derechos, de abandono o de abusos, entre otras, por parte del contexto en el que viven, por lo tanto las escuelas y colegios cumplen un rol fundamental en esa protección y en ese proceso de asegurar los derechos mínimos de los estudiantes.
Por lo tanto, la posición del Colegio de Profesores tan enfática y determinada en oponerse a un retorno presencial a las clases es francamente inaceptable. Como profesionales de la educación deberían entender y comprender la necesidad de los niños por estar en los colegios, y la función reguladora que tienen las escuelas, por lo que parece insensato y preocupante que un gremio que no representa a la totalidad de los docentes de nuestro país, determine de una manera tan categórica la no vuelta a clases y que tampoco aporte o se pronuncie con alternativas paralelas, ni muestre una actitud propositiva en esta problemática.
Hoy lo más importante es entender el fundamento y propósito final de por qué los niños tienen que volver a clases, y en ese sentido, se debe trabajar para lograr un regreso paulatino, coordinado, planificado y seguro para conseguir no solo que el contagio no se masifique en las instituciones escolares, sino que también asegure la calidad del retorno a clases y que los estudiantes puedan retomar sus actividades académicas, sociales y emocionales. El daño que se está haciendo como país a los niños y adolescentes es brutal y no ha sido dimensionado, por lo que no cabe duda que en unos años más quedará en evidencia un impacto significativo en esta generación que hoy está sufriendo la falta de oportunidades que el Estado y las instituciones relacionadas no están brindando.
